Brainiesssss!!!

Thinking, Reasoning, Language, Numbers, Emotions, Love, Anger, Fear, Creativity, Intuition & the list goes on...These are part & parcel of our life. Some will have more & some will have less...But people are bound to have these in their life...Have you ever thought why these happen in our life. But I did think about these...As always...What? Why? Where? How? Finally here a post in my Blog :)

I hope you would have taken this test...But take this once more...LOOK at the below image & say the COLOUR, not the word.

I know it s very difficult to say the colours. Even I was not able to identify it, but irrespective of the colours, it was damn easy to say the words...Isn't it? But why is this & whats the phenomena behind this. I think everyone knows this is because of the commander in chief in body called "The BRAIN". He send the signals to each & every part of the body & the parts acts, reacts, responds & reciprocates the same. So he is the person to be dissected to know more about him...(Ahem!!! Not like the dissection of a frog or a cockroach which we did during our Zoology classes...This is just to know more about him, A general overview ;))

You have probably heard people saying, "He follows his heart rather than his head/ brain" But technically, we can't think with our heart. That's again signals sent from the brain :) But how?
Brain is divided into two sides or Hemisphere, Right Brain & Left Brain. Each sides is responsible for different functions & roles. Left brain is more logical & right brain is more emotional...

Hold on!!! What about Weak-Hearted or Faint-hearted??? Heart has nothing to to with thinking, emotions, feelings, love, philosophy etc...Its all about the right brain & left brain combination. The only thing that the heart does is, it receives the signals from the brain & acts accordingly.

In ancient times, people believed that Heart was the organ responsible for emotions & feelings because they saw changes in the heart beat based on their emotions, be it happy, angry, sad, sleepy. So the belief continued & people started saying he is weak hearted, Stone-hearted, heart-broken...:) Heart is just an organ like a lungs or liver in the body which does its own work of pumping the blood throughout the body.

After reading this post don't ask me are you a geek? Because i thought it was little insane to write a post out of the blue...But still "I AM AN ENGINEER" :)

Startups, Startups, Startups everywhere!!!

Well, this post is something which is very close to my heart :)

Over a decade, India had seen so many start ups being registered...especially in the last two years, the numbers were phenomenal across IT, ITES, Healthcare, Agriculture, BFSI etc. Yet only a few are able to sustain in a long run. Let's analyse the practical situation of a startup in terms of the innovation to make their firms or products a succussfull brands...

Most of the entrepreneurs start the business to make change, lead people, be their own boss, do something different, innovate...& the list goes on & on...But the fact is, majority of these people expect things to turn around automatically & become profitable within few months & become a successful Entrepreneurs. But the reality has something else for them in the platter...they start complaining & eventually QUIT.

If "Necessity is the mother of invention", I would say, "Obsession will be the father of innovation" :) Coz Great ideas start with completely unrealistic thoughts. Do u think Invention & Innovation are the same???
Ahem!!! Absolutely not...Invention is creating new ideas for products or process, whereas Innovation is all about practical application of new invention into a marketable products & services...

Recently I have read it one of the co-blogger post who is a serial entrepreneur...He had mentioned, "First two years of a start up are extremely demanding one you as a fonder of a start-up. You have to endure a lot of pain before you glimpses of some of the nice things. And there is always high probability of not making it at all. Its kind of being pregnant for 2 years while knowing that the probability of giving birth to a healthy child is just 10-15% People who go through this period of pregnancy and deliver successfully are the ones who enjoy the journey and the pain than the outcome"

Most of the startups fail miserably because of either one of three main reasons... Lack of innovation, lack of funds, lack of strong business plan.

Either the start-ups should target the untapped industry like Linkedin (Professional Networking) or Naukri.com (Job Portal in India) or Xerox (Which changed the name of photocopying) or start ups have to innovate something new within the existing industry to attract the customers (Facebook overtook Orkut when the latter was doing great in Social Networking Industry....Another best example, Apple/ Samsung overtaking Nokia which was the market leader in the mobile phones industry for more than 14 Years)...It's a sheer rat race where they have to innovate something that keep the customers motivated to buy your product & have high client/ customer satisfaction because for any enterprise, there will be clients & customers to sell the product...

I have spoken to couple people in the past who have the aspirations to become an entrepreneur & have strong business mind & approach but not willing to leave their high paying job. They somehow convinces themselves that the entrepreneurial venture will be a successful while doing their full time job, but have you ever heard  if there is anything called part-time entrepreneurship???

Still lot more to cover in this topic...esp the SEED FUNDING!!! Watch out this page for more actions on Entrepreneurship :)

Cheers!!!

The Rise of Machines - Crazy Mission - 2200 :)

Its been a year since I posted something in my blog...I'm Back ;)

Things were going fine as usual. Getting up late from bed, rushing up to get ready, stuck in traffic, working all day in front the computer, getting back home again in the heavy traffic, playing with my kid, going to sleep late...

Sometime back, I saw a television Ad. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08TRyjiB6f0) Nice Thoughts...Young people as decision makers, bill passed within few seconds & Shared in networking site, 2000+ Likes...One thing that we should think, is it about Technology, networking, Connectivty...Whatever you call it as...end of the day it's all about Evolution. A decade back, If someone wanted to express his/ her thoughts, only thing which was available was the Print Media esp. News Papers. The person had to send his writings to the Editors & they will review that & only if the material is worth (in their point of view) he will publish it in his newspaper, that too after a week or so. But now, we have blogspot, facebook, Wordpress, name anything on the internet :) Do u call that as evolution???

Do you remember the Tring Tring black telephones & the Trunk Calls that we use to make to talk to a distant relative??? Do u remember the Telegram which we send & receive??? When was the last time you visited the post office & bought an Inland letter & a 5 Rs Stamp??? When did u last switch off your Time Piece Alarm in the morning??? Do u call these as evolution???

Also so many hot & happening gadgets of the years are no more. Very Best examples: Kodak Film rolls, Floppy disks, VCR, VCD, Walkman, CDMan etc...Evolution & adaptability to change is indispensable in this world...Do u agree???

Lets see some interesting things about Eastman Kodak company which filed bankruptcy two months back which were not able to withstand the tremendous competition in the digital camera industry. Ironically, they were the pioneers in designing the digital cameras under the name "Apple QuickTake" which was launched in 1994 by Apple Computers. But the management thought they were into films industry which had very less competition those days & continued to enjoy the larger pie of the market share. If you see deep into it, they were in neither films industry nor digital camera industry, they were in the memories industry. People take photos in order to remember the occasions, so it could be in paper print, digital, anywhere. They again invested loads of money in research & developed new Digital cameras & rolled out model after model offering consumers top quality cameras at reasonable price that made it easy to share photos with friends & family members thro' their PCs

By 2005, thy became the number 1 in US in digital camera sales. One of their best products in digital cameras was the Printer dock, which Ghajini Surya/ Amir Khan used, where you get the photo printed as soon as you click the shutter. With more companies entering the market, by 2007 thy slipped to 4th place in the US sales & subsequently 7th place in 2010 behind Canon, Nikon, Sony etc. Cameras in cellphones, smart phones, tablets too became competitors for them & they filed bankruptcy on 19th Jan 2012. Finally they obtained $950 Million, 18 month credit Facility from Citigroup to continue its operations. So It's all about Evolution & forward thinking to grow an organization & taking it to the next level.

I think I ve gone deep into the digital camera industry & the decline to the Kodak company right?? Let's get out of that & let me explain what I exactly wanted to convey :) Again coming to the Networking, Connectivity etc...Everything is possible only when there is a Jinx word called - "The INTERNET" exists. Because last week at office, there was no internet connection & we didn't know what to do. Not able to browse google, facebook, no likes, no comments, no outlook...OOhh My God it was like Hell !!!

Felt like laughing!!! So many crazy thoughts were running in my mind about "Internet & It's Craziness".

Now on, it will be absolutely crazy, out of the world, but you never know this might happen in near future...That's why I have given the caption: Crazzy Mission 2200 :)

Here We gooo!!!!

INTERNET is gonna to be the next IN THING in the world where people gets connected with everyone be it government, colleagues, friends, family, restaurants, maids, mechanics, carpenters, anyone you name it, they will be connected "ONLY THROUGH ONLINE".

Currently, like all European countries have Euro...The whole world will have a single currency called - Woreo ;)) (Wah! What an idea sir jii)

Facebook, Google, Yahoo, Amazon, Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, SAP Labs & other biggies will be declared as countries...& Actual countries like India, United States, Dubai, Japan etc will still remain as countries but can be acquired/ conquered by these declared countries based on the revenue, GDP, Inflation etc.

By 2200, IBM would have completed 300+ Years & become the worlds largest country & wouldhave acquired three-fourth of the Asian Countries, including India & China. Oracle would have acquired most of the middle east countries to become the richest country in the world. Microsoft will still pitch in to acquire Yahoo which would again be turned down for the 48th time. Facebook & Google would fight for patent issues over US & UK acquisitions respectively.

No more outlets for any Retail & CPG/ FMCG, Durables, - Food, Apparel, footwear, Beverages, etc Even Medicine. So no more shopping, no more window shopping, no shopping complex, no commercial malls, etc... Similarly no more Dine in restaurants with multi-cuisine foods. Everything will be listed in the Woreo Website :) All your Orders will be delivered like Pizza within 20 minutes :)

All your Brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, in-laws & other relatives will become friends or friends of friends...There will be only three kinds of relatonships, viz., First degree, second degree & third Degree :) Even phone calls will be done Online :) What Else is left???

In this scenario Interestingly, If someone is convicted in the court for rape or murder, the person will be denied "Internet access" for 10 Years :) So that he will not have any connectivity with anyone in the world. No food, no friends, no job, no entertainment. Ideally, no life...

For minor cases, your laptop/ home computers will be seized for a week or month...

For Drink & drive/ rash driving, your Facebook/ twitter account will be blocked for a month...

Crazy Right??? You never know this might happen in future...Whatever I hope I made you smile!!! Am I right??? But I enjoyed a lot writing this :) Sorry Typing this!!! Cheers!!!

Online Passwordssss!!!

Internet has become one of the most indispensable aspects of modern life...Similarly, the Internet Passwords (pw) too...

In my early days, when I was in school, there were only few passwords, be it the 3 digits password of the briefcase or Godrej Locks...It was very easy to remember. After the era of internet, social/ professional networking, Online transactions...puufff..how many passwords to remember...

Untill few years back, remembering the pw was at least easy as the minimum number of characters used to be five or six...But now a days, It has to be minimum eight characters...on top of that they should have a number, special character, both number & special characters should not be used in the beginning or end of the pw, the pw should not b the same as user id...Grrrr...am going mad...

Just thought how many passwords do I remember...here is the list...My office PC password, Outlook Password (Which needs to be changed once in 15 days), Internal IBM, Accenture portals, Naukri login, (Both as employer & job seeker), Monster Login (Only as job seeker) gmail, yahoo, facebook, linkedin, IRCTC, ICICI bank login pw, Transaction pw, Citi Bank Credit Card pw, ATM PIN Numbers, Redbus, KSRTC, makemytrip, bookmyshow, PVR...& the list goes on...

One good thing which I always like in the login page is "Forgot password" option. I don't remember how many times I would have clicked that option in the login page. It usually happens for the sites which I don't use much or when I come back from a long vacation or leave. Again there is something called Question & Answer to retrieve the password. Funniest part is that we have to select the question & key in the answer, which I usually forget.

Internet security companies should come up with some new technology where in there shouldn't be any passwords for the login but it should also be secure enough to access your own personal data without the fear of hackers.

Till that break through happens, we have to remember the passwords...atleast the important ones...else anyways we can always use 'Forgot Passwords' option :) But remember the security question & answer to retrieve the password...
